CATERING

  • Purchase local, seasonal and/or organic produce and other products for catering, location caterers and kitchens.
  • Use non-toxic, environmentally friendly cleaning products.
  • Ensure dishware and utensils are reusable to minimise use of disposable items.  Avoid using plastic or Styrofoam plates, cups, utensils and take-out containers. If this is not possible use products made of recyclable materials.
  • Use water coolers instead of bottled water. Give cast and crew members their own personal water bottles and encourage their use.
  • Turn off coffee makers and other electrical items when not in use and at the end of the day.
  • Buy supplies from vendors in bulk to avoid waste.
  • Avoid purchasing over-packaged products.
  • Buy fair trade, organic coffee and tea and use reusable unbleached, chlorine-free coffee filters.
  • Compost food scraps and organic materials if possible.
  • For shopping, use reusable bags instead of using plastic bags.
  • Snip any plastic six-pack rings, which can endanger ocean birds and sea life.
