An interview with Warrior:
How much of a Gladiators fan are you?
I've been obsessed with it ever since I was a kid. I loved the memorable characters - those are big shoes to fill. It's surreal to now be part of a show that I adored.
What can we expect from Warrior?
An animalistic intensity. Warrior is a primal and savage force.
Who is your favourite Gladiator and why?
I was a big fan of Rhino. He didn't steal the spotlight, he just did his thing, he was a natural. I liked the fact that he was a huge guy that could really move!
What is your favourite event and why?
I've got a soft spot for Earthquake because of my wrestling. I can definitely have fun with that one; the Contenders won't know what they've let themselves in for. Suspension Bridge looks incredible as well. It's going to be intense.
Have you been welcomed into the fold by the Gladiators?
You expect there to be griping because we're athletes, but it's not like that at all. We're one big family. We're brother and sisters, and can talk openly about anything and everything.
What do you bring to the show?
Although Warrior was a Gladiator in the original series, the character that I'm portraying has never been seen before. As savage as Warrior is, there is a comedic side to him. He's the Gladiator equivalent of marmite, the audience are either going to love or hate him. There won't be any silence when he enters the arena, I'm going to make sure of that. I want to be remembered.
What qualities do you need to have to be a Gladiator?
Aside from flexing the guns, you need to be dedicated and patient. You have to be able to take criticism and turn it into something constructive, to move forward and get cracking with the contest.
How do you feel about the Big Bad Wolf's return to his former hunting ground?
I'm unbelievably excited. He brings so much to the show. Wolf's got loads of tricks of the trade, and we can pick his brains.
