Use eco-sensitive cleaning materials, hire and reuse clothes and costumes. Use biodegradable products and purchase in bulk.
- Re-use or rent clothes and costumes rather than purchasing new clothes.
- Reuse coat hangers and plastic garment covers
- Repair and alter garments rather than buying new items.
- Purchase clothes made out of organic cotton or other natural and renewable materials.
- Source locally made clothes and materials.
- Use environmentally friendly dry cleaners when cleaning clothes and costumes (i.e. cleaners that use non-toxic alternatives to perchloroethylene).
- Use non-toxic dyes, environmentally friendly detergents, chemicals and cleaning products.
- Donate clothing and materials to non-profit organizations (e.g., schools, shelters, etc.) at the end of production.
- Use energy efficient cleaning equipment e.g. washing machines and irons.
Make-Up/Hair/Prosthetics
- Use biodegradable hair and make-up products.
- Use products that minimise the use of chemicals.
- Use CFL light bulbs in make-up tables to reduce energy use.
- Avoid the use of aerosols containing ozone-depleting substances.
- Have recycling bins readily available to make-up staff.
- Purchase in bulk where possible.
