Marge purchases a stunning Chanel suit for 90 dollars at a discount fashion store. When Homer fails to take her somewhere special, Marge begins wearing the outfit around town as she runs errands. While shopping at the Kwik-E-Mart, Marge runs into Evelyn Peters, a wealthy ex- classmate. Impressed with Marge’s fashion sense, Evelyn invites her to a posh country club.

The Simpson clan tries their best to blend in with the well-to-do club members. Marge is exhilarated when she finds acceptance with Evelyn’s friends, especially when she learns her family has a chance to actually join the club. But during her next visit, Marge is mortified when a smug socialite notes that she’s wearing the same outfit. Meanwhile, Mr. Burns arranges a golf game with Homer after noticing him practicing his golf swing inside the power plant’s restroom.

Marge accidentally ruins the Chanel suit while trying to alter it with a sewing machine. Desperate, she buys a stunning Chanel gown at a retail store, wiping out the family’s savings in the process. Meanwhile, Homer catches Smithers helping Mr. Burns win his golf game by secretly planting golf balls near the hole. Smithers warns Homer that his boss holds a lot of sway at the club, and if word of the incident ever leaked out, it would cost him his family’s membership in the club. When induction night arrives, Marge realizes her ambition to fit in with the country club elite has changed her personality and her relationship with the family. She decides to return the dress and accept her loved-ones as they are, warts and all.
