Russell Brand on The SimpsonsSimpsons Executive Producer Al Jean has told The Sun that he finds bad-boy comic Russell Brand "very funny," adding that he'd "definitely be interested in writing an episode around him."

Simpsons creator Matt Groening is a well-documented fan of British comedy, having famously hired Ricky Gervais to pen and star in the episode "Homer Simpson, This is Your Wife."  Groening also discussed his love of "Little Britain" in the press, and in 2005 a rumour circulated that Matt Lucas' iconic character Daffyd - aka "The Only Gay in the Village" - would be making a cameo in an episode.  That episode never came to fruition.

For his part, Brand hasn't commented yet on whether or not he'd be up for taking a holiday to Springfield - though he did tell the Daily Star that he wants "to be the next Doctor Who."
