Marge becomes distressed when Homer begins whittling down size D batteries to make some triple A’s for the TV remote. Homer asks Marge if the sparks are turning her on, but she assures him the opposite is true. She gets out of bed and moves to the couch. Meanwhile, at Springfield Elementary, Skinner announces that he and Mrs. Krabappel are to be wed the following weekend. Later Marge throws Krabappel a bachelorette party, which includes a Duffman stripper. Wiggum drops by when Flanders complains about the noise. The women mistake him for a stripper and start placing money in his waistband. Meanwhile Homer hosts a bachelor party for Skinner at Moe’s. During the party, Skinner begins having second thoughts about getting married. When Homer returns home, he tells Marge the news. Later, as the wedding ceremony gets underway, Krabappel experiences a fantasy of what it will be like on their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Horrorstricken, Krabappel announces she can’t go through with it. She turns and runs out of the auditorium as stunned guests react.

Still standing in the auditorium amid the guests, Skinner tries moving everyone into the reception area. Marge tells Skinner she feels bad for him. Skinner tries to make the best of it. Mrs. Krabappel returns to her teaching job. Marge pays Krabappel a visit to see how she’s holding up. During their discussion, Krabappel says there’s no point in being married if there’s no romance and excitement. Thinking about her own marriage, Marge doesn’t know how to respond. Meanwhile, at Moe’s tavern, Homer tells Skinner he’ll help win Krabappel back. They make their way to Krabappel’s apartment complex, where Homer tells Skinner exactly what to say. When Krabappel responds from her window, Marge is there, giving her advice on what to say. Homer is shocked when Marge supports Krabappel’s desire not to throw her life away on a passionless marriage. Marge likens the life Krabappel faces with Skinner to her and Homer’s marriage. Later Krabappel drives around town returning wedding gifts, including Comic Book Guy’s Incredible Hulk melon-baller. Comic Book Guy flirts with Krabappel, who’s so taken with his passion that she asks him to call her sometime. Before she leaves the store, Krabappel grabs Comic Book Guy from across the counter and kisses him. They end up on the floor together.

Homer, Skinner, and an all-boy choir show up outside Krabappel’s apartment window. As Skinner serenades her with a song, Comic Book Guy steps out onto the balcony and lets it be known that he and Krabappel are an item. They’re doing everything together, and will be attending the Bi-Monthly Science Fiction convention. Homer vows to attend the convention and get Skinner and Krabappel back together. Marge wishes that Homer would spend as much time paying attention to their relationship. As the science fiction convention gets underway, guests gather around Matt Groening, creator of Futurama. Moments later the Simpsons spot Krabappel and Comic Book Guy entering Multi-Purpose Room B, which is filled with nerds dressed as Klingons. Comic Book Guys gets down on one knee and asks Krabappel to marry him. Suddenly Skinner enters dressed in a sexy Catwoman suit. Skinner and Comic Book Guy battle it out, but the fight comes to an end when Krabappel announces she’s not marrying either one of them. She wants to be with a man who never wants to get married. With that, she exits arm-in-arm with Matt Groening. Meanwhile Homer realizes it’s time to stop ignoring his home life. That night Homer brings Marge some pie, and massages her foot. He asks Marge for her forgiveness, and she gives him her other foot, moaning with pleasure.
