Bart and Lisa beg their parents to take them to Itchy and Scratchy Land, which is advertised as “the violentest place on earth.” At first, Marge refuses to go, explaining that she has already planned their vacation to a bird sanctuary. But the kids counter that the theme park has a special place for adults called Parents Island. Marge gives in after her family promises the trip will not turn into a miserable, embarrassing experience. Homer and the children assure her that this vacation will be different from all the others.

After an arduous journey by car, the Simpsons arrive at Itchy and Scratchy Land, a gigantic, “Jurassic Park”-type attraction featuring rides based on the gratuitously violent cartoons. Marge is shocked by what she sees, but her reaction is tempered by assurances from engineers that violence is good for children—and that the park is perfectly safe. Tired of thrill rides, Marge and Homer retreat to Parents Island, where they are thrilled to learn that disco is not dead after all. But both Bart and Homer get arrested for kicking an employee dressed in an Itchy costume. The news of the arrest is announced on the park’s loudspeaker. Marge is mortified.

After Marge bails Bart and Homer out of the theme park’s jail, the family is threatened by several robots brandishing weapons. Soon, robots from around the park start running amok. Using his camera, Homer takes a snapshot of the robots, disorienting them. Lisa realizes that the bright light scrambles the robots’ circuitry. A battle ensues between the Simpsons, armed with cameras, and the robots. The robots are defeated, and Marge admits it was their best vacation ever—but asks curtly that no one ever speak of it again.
