When the family views a television commercial for the Blockoland amusement park, Marge and Maggie express an interest in going. Soon after, the family visits the park, which features buildings made from colored blocks. On the ride home, Lisa notices that her Eiffel Tower kit is missing a piece. Homer drives back to Blockoland and approaches a salesman at a souvenir stand. He eventually convinces the salesman to replace the missing piece. On the ride home, Homer mentions how good it feels to help another person. He then notices a woman, Shoshanna, standing next to a van with a flat tire. Homer pulls over to help…only to be robbed by Snake, who was hiding in the back of the van.
Homer continues his role as Good Samaritan when he learns that a girl at school turned him down for an upcoming school dance. Homer drops in on Bart’s class and convinces Sherri to change her mind. Later, Homer learns that Marge’s salon refused to honor a coupon for two free streaks. Homer speaks with the owner, Henri, and pours over his books…eventually finding a way for Henri to save thousands of dollars. Grateful, Henri honors Marge’s coupon. Later, at Moe’s bar, Homer listens as Lenny complains about the Springfield Isotopes’ losing streak (the team is now owned by Duff Beer). Lenny attempted to return his season ticket, but his request was denied. Homer travels to the stadium, where he speaks with H.K. Duff VIII, the team’s owner. Duff VII refuses to refund the season ticket and orders Homer out of his office. But as Homer heads out a door, Duff VIII calls out in a panic. Homer then looks through the door—which he opened in error—and sees another room. Inside are posters and jerseys reading “Albuquerque Isotopes.” Homer realizes the team is being moved to another city. Duff VIII denies this is so…and offers Homer a tantalizing taste of the company’s most potent brew, Duff Code Blue. Homer consumes the beer, and when he regains consciousness back home, has a hard time remembering what happened. But then Bart notices something written on Homer’s hand…which turns out to be a note about the Isotopes moving to Albuquerque. Homer vows to let the world know what’s happening. He leads a team of reporters to the secret room inside Duff VIII ’s office. Unfortunately, the room has been emptied of all incriminating evidence. Later, Lisa tells Homer how Cesar Chavez staged hunger strikes to protest injustices. Homer vows to do the same.
Homer chains himself to a light pole near the entrance gate of Duff stadium. As a game gets underway, Duff VIII notices a light turnout. Duffman pins the blame on Homer, who has attracted his own crowd outside the stadium gates. Duff VIII has Homer moved to a landscaped area behind the center field wall. Later, the stadium announcer tells fans that Homer is on a hunger strike until the Isotopes win the pennant. The crowd believes the lie and cheers. Just when Homer seems to lose his willpower and is moments from swallowing a pretzel, the spirit of Cesar Chavez appears before him. Chavez tells him the protest is pointless. Homer throws the pretzel at him. Later, executives for the team unchain Homer and tell him that he is being replaced by Paint-Drinking Pete. Duff VIII then walks Homer to a nearby microphone and offers him an Isotope Dog Supreme. A drooling Homer notices the garnish on the hot dog and realizes they are all Southwestern ingredients…the kind of bold flavor enjoyed in Albuquerque. The crowd realizes Homer is right and begins chanting for the truth. Duff VIII instructs Duffman to kick Homer out of the stadium. But Homer convinces Duffman that Duff VIII represents everything he despises. Duffman then hurls Duff VIII over the nearest wall.
