Lisa responds to a Nationwide Public Radio contest and ends up winning tickets to a foreign-language film playing at an art house. There’s very little time to make it to the theater, so Homer asks Flanders to keep an eye on Maggie. Homer, Marge, Bart, and Lisa arrive at the theater in time for the screening, but they’re all disappointed in the movie, which is in Albanian with English subtitles. Flanders shows Maggie his Humble figurine collection. When the Simpsons return home from the movie, Marge offers to pay Flanders for babysitting Maggie. Flanders refuses to take money from a neighbor, but he points out that business at the Leftorium has been slow. Marge suggests that Flanders rent out one of his rooms so he can make some extra money. Flanders decides it’s a good idea. He rents out a room to an all-American type named Vicki, and a Russian girl named Katja. They claim to be students at a community college. Once the girls enter Flanders’ guest room, they mount video cameras on the walls. Before long Homer, Bart, and most every male in Springfield realize that the scantily clad co-eds are hosting “SexySlumberParty.com” from Flanders’ house.
Flanders is oblivious to what’s going on around him, but one day Marge catches on. She grabs Homer by the ear and leads him next door, where Homer tells Ned the truth about the girls. Flanders kicks Vicki and Katja out of the house. He thanks Homer for telling him about the scam, and concludes that Homer is his only real friend. Then Flanders finds out that Homer was the one who told everyone in town about the girls’ website. Flanders walks sadly back to his house. Flanders tells his sons that he wished he could live in a town like the America of yesteryear. He picks up one of the Hummel figurines and notices that it’s made in Humbleton, Pennsylvania. Homer walks next door to apologize to Flanders for making him look like a fool, but he realizes the house is empty, and that Flanders and the boys moved away. Later Homer meets his new neighbor: Clay Roberts, an obnoxious, barrel-chested man.
When Flanders arrives in the ultraconservative Humbleton, he loves what he sees. He makes his way to the Hummel figurine factory to apply for a job. The supervisor tells Flanders he can begin work in the “dimple department.” Before he starts, he must shave off his moustache. When Flanders returns home, he makes his way to the bathroom and prepares to say goodbye to his beloved facial hair. At the last minute, he changes his mind. Instead he tries to hide or cover up his moustache any way he can. Meanwhile, back in Springfield, Homer watches “Celebrity Chop Shop,” featuring Jason Bateman. Suddenly the television picture goes blank. Homer walks outside, where he discovers Clay cutting down trees in his own yard. One of the felled trees has downed a utility line. Clay belittles Homer when he complains about the situation. Homer comes to realize he actually misses Flanders. He makes his way to Flanders’ home in Pennsylvania, and begs him to return. Tired of Humbleton’s conservative ways, Flanders decides to move back to Springfield. He makes his way to his old house, where he informs Clay that his check bounced. Clay throws a punch, but Flanders catches his fist, twists his arm, and forces him to the ground. Homer then smashes Clay over the head with a chair. Homer leads a blindfolded Ned into Ned’s backyard. Homer removes the blindfold… revealing a huge pipe organ that Homer stole from the church. Homer throws Flanders a party to celebrate his return.
