As he rides to school on the bus, Bart decides to lecture the other kids on the art of making water balloons. Bart loads a water balloon into a slingshot and fires it at the back of Lisa’s head. Lisa erupts in anger and attacks Bart. Otto opens the front door of the bus, and as he turns a corner, the kids roll out and into the Simpson house. The fight causes Maggie to land in the cat box, and pie to fall into some fresh laundry. Marge is furious. She tells the kids they’ve got to pack for a trip to Great-Uncle Tyrone’s in Dayton, Ohio. The kids protest having to go on the trip. Marge gives in and says they don’t have to go, but she insists they’ve got to do something as a family before she and Homer set off on the trip. The family ends up renting Love Story. As one of the sappier scenes plays, Bart uses the remote to turn on picture-in-picture, causing Krusty the Clown to appear on screen. Marge is furious, as she was enjoying the movie. Later, as Marge and Homer stand in line at the airport, they notice a group of happy people waiting to board a flight to Miami. They decide to trade in their tickets for dreary Dayton and hop aboard a flight to Miami instead. They don’t let the kids know about the change in plans, and look forward to their second honeymoon together.

A stewardess tells Homer and Marge the flight is overbooked, and as a result they’ll be riding in First Class. Homer and Marge are thrilled. Meanwhile Bart, Lisa, and Grampa watch the news on television. They watch in horror as a tornado wipes out the Dayton hotel where Marge and Homer were supposed to be staying. The phone rings, and Lisa picks up. Marge is on the other end of the line. She tells Lisa that everything is fine in “Dayton,” including the weather. After she hangs up, Lisa tells Bart that Homer and Marge are off enjoying themselves… and they’re not invited. Bart hits some numbers on the telephone keypad and learns that Homer and Marge are at a hotel in Miami. They talk Grampa into driving to Florida. When the threesome arrive at the hotel, Bart and Lisa set off to find their parents while Grampa heads for the beach, which is filled with senior citizens. He tries to charm some elderly widows by making his feet curl up like the Wicked Witch’s in The Wizard of Oz. His stunt turns them off, but a well-dressed Cuban man named Raoul sees Grampa and strokes his chin thoughtfully. Meanwhile Homer and Marge go to a nightclub and stay out until the wee hours of the morning. When they arrive back at the hotel, Bart and Lisa are waiting by the door, asleep. Unwilling to let the kids ruin their second honeymoon, Homer and Marge summon a bellboy, who carts the kids away on a dry-cleaning rack. When the kids wake up the next morning, they’re wrapped in dry-cleaning packages. The kids tear off the packaging and realize Homer and Marge have fled. Using a computer terminal at Miami Airport, Bart and Lisa determine that Homer and Marge flew to Atlantic City. Meanwhile, on the beach in Miami, Grampa bores another widow with one of his farfetched stories. Raoul approaches Grampa and offers to take him to his penthouse. In Atlantic City, Homer and Marge make out in a glass elevator. Then Marge sees Bart and Lisa in the next elevator over. Homer stops the elevator, and he and Marge run off, hoping to lose the kids. The kids soon follow, and a chase ensues. In an effort to ditch the kids, Homer and Marge end up in Niagara Falls. Back in Miami, Raoul tells Grampa that he’s not interesting in women. Raoul hands Grampa a drink and encourages him to tell another of his stories. Grampa is happy to oblige. When Grampa awakens the next morning, he asks Raoul about what happened the previous night. Raoul says: “a gentleman never tells.” Back in Niagara Falls, Homer and Marge prepare to spend a romantic evening together. After the room-service waiter leaves, Homer lifts a silver dome off a platter, anticipating the meal that lay beneath. Instead he discovers Bart and Lisa hiding. Marge tells the kids they’ve won, and after a good night sleep, they’ll all head back to Springfield. Instead Marge and Homer sneak off to a Ferris wheel near the falls. But as they descend in the Ferris wheel car, they realize Bart and Lisa are sitting in the next car over. Homer and Marge run off. They hide in a “moon bounce” castle but end up floating downriver toward the falls. Thinking they’re about to be killed, Homer and Marge shed their clothes and start making out. They survive the plunge, and Marge tells a passing tour guide they feel incredibly alive. The crew of a passing U.S. rescue bickers with the crew of a Canadian boat, and then fires a shot and sinks it.
