A frustrated Marge threatens to withhold Bart and Lisa’s allowance unless they complete their chores. The children realize they’ll need cash quickly when carnival trucks carrying rides and concession booths roll passed the house. But just when it seems as if Marge has won a victory, an excited Homer bursts into the living room, wallet in hand. The kids grab fistfuls of cash and dash out the front door with their father. At the carnival, Bart inadvertently crashes a Mercedes automobile billed as Adolph Hitler’s personal limousine.
The Rich Texan who owns the carnival demands that Bart work off the money it will cost to repair the damaged automobile by performing chores. Bart is overjoyed by the prospect of working in such a “cool” environment. Jealous, Homer begs the Texan for a similar opportunity, and shortly thereafter, he too his hired. The pair befriend Cooder and Spud, father and son carnies who run—and live inside of—a ring-toss booth. Homer and Bart act as substitutes when Cooder and his boy leave for an AA meeting. Chief Wiggum approaches the booth and threatens to close it down unless he receives a bribe. Homer misunderstands Wiggum’s intentions and the booth is hauled away by police.
When Homer realizes he cost Cooder and Spud their dwelling, he insists the pair stay at his house. Marge quickly grows annoyed with the uncivilized pair’s behavior, though Homer promises their stay will be a short one. Cooder and his son give the Simpsons tickets for a ride on a glass bottom boat. When the family returns home from the trip, they realize Cooder and Spud have locked them out of the house and have claimed the dwelling as their own. Homer proposes a solution: he will attempt to toss a hula hoop onto the chimney. If he successfully achieves the toss, Cooder and his son must vacate the house, and if he loses, he will sign the deed over to Cooder. Certain Homer will lose the bet, Cooder and son exit the house to watch the hoop toss. Suddenly, the Simpsons dash through into the house and shut the front door. Cooder and Spud realize they were the victims of a con.
