After reading “The Bridges of Madison County,” Marge suspects that the romance has gone out of her life. She tells Homer that young people learn about love through adults—and that as parents, they have been setting a terrible example. She recounts her near-affair with bowling instructor Jacques to illustrate her idea of a romantic encounter. Homer is stunned when he learns of the incident.

As his children and wife listen, Homer recounts how his crush on Mindy, a fellow office worker, tested his faithfulness to Marge. Not to be outdone, Lisa recounts how Ralph developed a crush on her, and Bart recalls his relationship with Laura.

With the trips down memory lane having reopened old wounds, Marge recalls some brighter moments to cheer up her family. Homer, too, recounts fond memories. Marge is moved by her husband’s recollections of happy times. She and Homer kiss, their marriage more romantic than ever.
