Ruth Jones’s 40-something mum Stella will be returning to Sky for a second series next year.
The show has been hailed by critics as 'funny, clever and totally believable', and gleaned a devoted audience in its Friday night slot on Sky 1.
Ruth Jones said she was 'over the moon' about the series being re-commissioned, adding "I'm looking forward to getting back to Pontyberry again, even though it doesn't actually exist".
A charming slice of the working-class Welsh Valleys, Stella is a comedy drama that centres around the ups and downs of family life, amid the chaos of Stella's eccentric friends, relatives and children's fathers.
"All hail Ruth Jones," said Lucy Lumsden, Head of Comedy at Sky. "Stella was our first and biggest original comedy commission and we are thrilled that our customers love it as much as we do. Bring on the second series."
The 10-part second series is created by Ruth Jones for Tidy Productions. Filming will take place this summer with the series set to return in early 2013.
