An interview with Spartan:

What lessons have you learnt from season one?
I've learnt to embrace the showmanship side of the show, to loosen up in front of the cameras and not let the competition get to me. The more wound up you get, the less you perform to your standards.

What can we expect from Spartan in season two?
I've improved my speed, strength and power. Plus, I've been practising and perfecting my poses, so expect more eccentric and elaborate heroics.

What was your favourite moment from season one and why?
The moment that stands out is one of the Gauntlets that I took part in. It was a real team effort; we all pulled together and delivered good hits. Atlas finally stepped up and stopped this guy barging his way through. I enjoyed the team spirit of it.  Being away from the series, you don't so much miss the events or the attention, you miss being part of a unit.

How do you feel about the Big Bad Wolf's return to his former hunting ground?
I think all the Gladiators are going to learn from Wolf. He's got so much experience that it's going to be impossible not to.

Are you glad to be donning the spandex suit once again?
I feel at home and comfortable in the spandex. I'm Spartan now. It's time to shine and be a hero.

Have you welcomed the new Gladiators into the fold?
It's brilliant having the new guys on the show. There is a rivalry, but not an unhealthy one. You need that competitive spirit to keep everybody on their toes and improving. The new arrivals push you to raise your standards and game, which can only be a good thing.

What challenges will you be facing in season two?
The new events, which I think I'm going to excel at, to put it bluntly! In Rocketball, it's all about timing and skill, about being able to deliver a blow. In terms of Pursuit, I'm one of the speedier and agile guys of the group, so I should do well. And Suspension Bridge is about dishing out the big hits which, as Duel showed, I can more than do.

How has Gladiators changed your life?
The whole fame thing wasn't expected. It's just an added aspect. I've posed in quite a few girls' mags, but it's not my thing. I don't mind it, but I'm not a piece of meat. At the end of the day, I'm an athlete first. If people like to see me as a heartthrob, so be it. At the end of the day, for me, Gladiators is about making memories
