Did someone say there’s no new Lost for a week - But, that means no new TLI, right, then my challenge is to cram an entertaining reaction to The Last Recruit. Plus, updates on Mr. Lee and Mr. Tom, as well as ‘the PT week that was’ into these fair 500 words. Here… we… go!
Iain Lee. What a legend. Not only is he that loveable, scruffable (new word, copyright PT), cheeky chappy you see presenting TLI each week, he’s also Absolute Radio’s tallest DJ (I know they don’t call them DJs any more, but I still do), plus, he has a fine collection of novels, films, snouts and cakes, that he willingly shares with me, his chum. Snacks aside, he recently lent me the time traveling wonder combo that is Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-Five and an amazing Japanese film called Summer Time Machine Blues. Both of which are bloomin’ marvellous, and it’s unlikely I would’ve gotten around to checking them out, if it wasn’t for my big brother, the Lee-ster.
GT. The G-izzle to tha T-izzle. Pappa G. Geekmaster T. He really is, quite literally, a man whose name you can wrap a whole wealth of puns around. And beyond that, he’s my little Lost brother. Tom has the kind of explosive views on Lost that quite literally make our cameraman almost ruin footage by giggling during the filming, and providing Cloverfield-style shaky-cam effects when it’s not really appropriate, or indeed asked for big our big boss Dan. But when GT’s in the house, much like the show, all bets are off. And that’s just how we like it at Club Initiative. And I’ll even reveal a little known fact – wanna know a way to fill the biscuit shaped hole in Tom’s heart? Fill it with blueberry cookie. He’ll be grinning before you can say “sideways-Desmond-is-swish.”
And just what is that cheeky time traveler up to? He’s certainly seeming very happy with himself in the flash-sideways isn’t he? Which, compelling mystery aside, I’m so pleased to see. After all, the Dezza’s been through a lot, so it’s nice to see him grinning and enjoying spreading some love between the other 815ers.
Island-wise, is it wrong that I’m starting to trust Flocke more? I think I just respected his honesty with the reveal about him portraying Christian on the island, and there’s just a twinkle in his eye that makes… me… think… we should all… go with him… sorry, kinda drifted off then. What was I talking about? Oh yes, the great monster himself. I guess I’m just saying, like he said to Ben, “let’s not resort to name calling.”
Speaking of name-calling, I do entirely condone anyone doing such a thing to wasps. Springtime is great and all that, but when you can’t even enjoy chilling in the park with a few comics without the striped menaces deciding, for no good reason, to start bouncing off your face, it’s not as pleasant as it should be. And no, I was not wearing my bright red Tomahawk T-shirt, otherwise I would’ve accepted the stingy abuse I received.
So, in summary, loving where the show is taking us, loving our TLI bromance, not loving (insert multiple profanities here) Hell’s striped minions. See you here next week…
