Spectacular sunglasses acting… the gorgeous Libby… love blossoming on a beach… and a hit & run stunt to rival Hollywood’s finest – brother, things are hotting up!

Paul Terry's BlogHurley and Libby sitting in a tree.....uh I mean on a beach. If you can, rewatch that car scene again, hit your slo-mo or something similar, and then salute the skills of Team Lost (and especially the stunt man) for pulling off that heartpounding hit & run. Sweet Alabama, what a scene. And it’s been ace to see how that sequence, and the previous ‘Flocke shoving Dessie into the well’ has caused so much fan debate – some of the most vocal we’ve ever seen on the forums/walls – good work gang!

I’ve had one of those weekends where the flash sideways and the island saga have not only been swimming around in my brain the whole time, but they’ve cropped up in conversation at every turn: during coffee and a hot cross bun, whilst hanging up the laundry, tucking into a brilliant roast dinner on Sunday (nice one, Kathryn!), and even during a meeting about pensioners and vampires (don’t ask). It definitely feels like, since it was revealed Desmond was The Package, that fan debate to decipher the clues in this final season has gone mental. Put it this way, if you’re buying a pound of cheese at a Deli counter, and the lovely old dear serving you mutters to her mate, whose scooping up some olives, “Have you seen that Lost program yet? My grandson won’t stop going on about it. I think it’s new. I think it’s on after Emmerdale or something on the other side” then you know everyone’s talking about it…

Everybody loves Hurley and Libby, surely? I thought the way they handled Hurley remembering their island time together was just beautiful. Any story development that is highlighting love as a key thing is always in danger of drowning in a vat of sugary sweet sentiment, but that kiss – especially the way the sound cut for the first load of memories that flashed into Hurley’s mind – was just perfect. And when it’s followed by yet more super-smooth shades acting from Desmond, it’s all good.

Paul Terry's BlogWe all love a fresh pot of Grohl.Iain shouted, “He’s Sam from Quantum Leap!” at the screen during the Desmond action, and – beyond any similarities that may/may not be there – recalling that brilliant show is fine by me. If it passed you by, dear sci-fi fan, for shame! Superb show. And the Evil Leaper episode still gives me chills just thinking about it…

Right, back to writing the Lost Encyclopedia. Which means it’s time for some Strapping Young Lad’s ‘City’ to be cranked to the max (loud metal = good for the soul), some Revels must be at hand (yes, I’m the freak who loves ALL the flavours), and most importantly… some coffee, which can only mean one thing: a “FRESH POT!!” Do your funny bones a favour and do a search for ‘Dave Grohl in Fresh Pots’ – it’s currently my favourite thing in the world. All hail the new fresh…
