my pet shame domingo summary 3

Domingo is an alpha male with a very dominant disposition. Angela loves her gentle, calming and peaceful herd of Alpaca’s but is finding Domingo’s bullying difficult to handle. When mixed with other male alpacas, all he wants to do is fight and it’s scary stuff.

Aside from barging, butting and screaming, Domingo, like all male alpacas is equipped with ‘fighting teeth’ that are capable of castrating another male. Because of his below the belt bullying Angela is forced to banish Domingo to solitary confinement and this breaks her heart as she would rather see him happy and playing and being part of the herd.

At the Pet Shame Clinic, Marc is keen to know what measures - if any - Angela has taken to date in order to tackle the problem. After learning that any introductions, albeit controlled, have taken place on established territory, Marc suggests that Angela starts the whole process from scratch but in a neutral field. The premise here being, they don’t want or have to protect something which isn’t theirs in the first place.

Back on the farm, Angela begins the process of reintroducing the males slowly and on neutral ground. The first meeting with another male doesn’t result in success and thankfully Angela is close by to intervene quickly and prevent a blood bath. Luckily, Angela has both time and patience and continues to persevere with Marc’s advice. On a follow up home visit, Marc and Angela are both delighted and surprised when she manages to integrate four males all at the same time.

It seems that mayhem is a thing of the past and at long last peace can finally prevail in Preston.
