The Judges

The last audition round up and meet the semi-finalists…

After scouring the nation for Britain and Ireland’s best new music act, the Must Be The Music auditions have been bought to a close - and judges Dizzee Rascal, Sharleen Spiteri have had some tough decisions to make. But which acts made it to the semi-finals and whose dreams were broken in two? If you didn’t manage to catch the show, here’s what you missed…

Our final double-bill of auditions kicked off with Legion of Many, a band on a mission to make the people dance to fast paced electro sound. Adorned in feathers, the group were a huge hit with the judges and went flying onto the shortlist. Other groups to impress the judges were rockabilly brothers The Houndogs, pop rock boyband The Pictures, live electro house trio Toxic Funk Berry and the 16-strong CK Gospel Choir.

Dizzee was in for a treat with sexy opera singers Passionata; not only was he carried away by their ‘dreamy’ sound – but one of the ladies even came forward to award our man with a kiss!

The soloists were also on top form; rapper Silvar won the judges over with an emotional tribute to his late mother, singer Billericay Boy impressed with his catchy pop and supermarket trolley pusher Callum Beattie realised his full potential when he performed his self-penned track to a whooping audience.

There were plenty of instrumentalists to see too - two pianists shone for the judges; 15-year-old Kyle Nash-Baker and Catherine Wright - and the Ebony Steel Band made everyone smile with their feel-good vibe.

Sadly, not everyone could make the grade - and 23-year-old singer and songwriter Ashleigh Ashley was just one of the acts shocked to see a full flash of red from the judges. Never one to hold back, Dizzee made his dislike for hopeful Andrew Carelton’s guitar playing known, stating, “I never want to see you again.”

With the auditions complete, the judges had some tough decisions to make – and, after much deliberation, announced their final 15.

The search is far from over though, with 15 sensational acts left – the competition has just begun. Let us introduce you to the Must Be The Music Semi -Finalists...
