Katie and Emma had never performed publicly together before their last minute decision to create Pepper and Piano for the Must Be The Music auditions. Good friends from college, Katie is the singer of the pair, believing that singing is everything in life - and Emma is the pianist, drawing inspiration from her life experiences and music studies at Manchester Music Base.
Katie grew up in Bournemouth with her Dad. Now living with her partner Ben and working as a part-time receptionist at his company, Katie’s inspiring achievement and claim to fame is coming joint first in a holiday camp competition with Nicola Roberts from Girls Aloud.
Emma was brought up by her grandparents in Blackburn. Her grandparents owned a piano, which kick-started Emma’s love for music, and she began taking piano lessons.
Following a difficult upbringing, and getting into the wrong crowd in her teenage years, Emma’s focus on music took a back seat, until she decided she wanted to turn her life around.
She has recently decided to further her grade five piano skills, and draws on her life experience in order to write songs with Katie.
Emma and Katie are currently studying for an HND at Manchester Music base.
