Emma's ImmaginationEmma's ImmaginationEmma’s Imagination announces new tour dates and reveals details of her debut album, Stand Still!

In September of this year, singer-songwriter Emma Gillespie of Emma’s Imagination was crowned winner of Sky1 HD’s Must Be The Music, after wowing the nation at the live Wembley final.

Thanks to her sweet, folky voice and beautifully crafted songs, Emma’s Imagination consistently wowed the judges - Dizzee Rascal, Jamie Cullum and Sharleen Spiteri - and struck such a chord with the audience that they sent two of her live performances into the top 10 single downloads.

Only a few months ago, 27-year-old Emma was paying her rent by busking in Glasgow. It was on her way home from singing in the street one day that she happened to pass the local auditions for Sky1’s new talent show Must Be The Music. “I was walking past and I thought, ‘Why not?’  They weren’t promising you a record deal and you weren’t signed into any dodgy contracts. It was just letting you sing your own songs, on the telly.” This Day

The spontaneity paid off, Emma’s Imagination has already sold almost 100,000 single downloads and, having caught the attention of both Gary Barlow who, as well being one-fifth of the most successful band in the country, runs Future Records, and Polydor President Ferdy Unger-Hamilton, who describes her as a “brilliant, original artist” - Emma signed to Polydor/Future Records in October.

She has been living in London while recording her debut album Stand Still with producer Martin Terefe (KT Tunstall, James Morrison, Jason Mraz). Emma recently shot her first video, for the single This Day, and completed the album photo shoot with acclaimed photographer Deirdre O’Callaghan, who has worked with stars from U2 to Laura Marling to Tinie Tempah. Stand Still will be released 10th January 2011 on Polydor/Future Records, preceded by This Day the single released 2nd January.
