MUST BE THE MUSIC VOTING  INFORMATION AND TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The 'Must Be The Music' semi finals and live final will rely entirely on the public vote.  There is no judges' vote.  They will however provide a critique following each performance. "
However, in the event of a technical failure or for any other reason beyond Sky or Princess's reasonable control that means that public vote results cannot be obtained and/or a tie, the Judges will decide on the result and their decision is final.

SEMI-FINALS
During the 'Must Be The Music' live semi finals (Sunday 29 August 2010, Sunday 5 September 2010 and Sunday 12 September 2010), there will be five acts each week who will perform and compete hoping to secure one of six places in the live final to become the 'Music Be The Music Winner 2010'. Each week of the semi-finals, the voting lines will open after all the acts have performed.  An announcement will be made on the live show to let the public know when the voting lines are open.   The public will then have the opportunity to vote for their favourite artist/group.  Later in the show, the results of the public vote will be given and the two acts with the highest number of votes will go through to the final.

In the very unlikely event of a technical failure or other such event beyond Sky or Princess's reasonable control that means that it is not possible to obtain the results of the public vote and/or the public vote results in a tie, the Judges will decide which artist/group goes through to the live final. In the very unlikely event of this happening this will be made clear to viewers at the time.

After the voting lines have closed, the viewers' votes will be collated and independently verified. The acts will be ranked based on the total number of viewers' votes received. Viewers will be informed when the voting lines have closed and any votes made after this time will not be counted and may still be charged.
In each live semi-finals the two artist(s)/group(s) with the highest number of viewers' votes will go through to the live final – notwithstanding any contingency procedure or technical failure.

FINAL
For the live final on Sunday 19th September 2010, the six finalists chosen by the public from the semi-finals will perform again.  After they have all performed, an announcement will be made to let the public know voting lines are open.  The public will then vote for who they would like to win 'Must Be The Music'.
After the voting lines have closed, the viewers' votes will be collated and independently verified. The acts will be ranked based on the total number of viewers' votes received. Viewers will be informed when the voting lines have closed and any votes made after this time will not be counted and may still be charged.
In the live final the artist/group with the highest number of viewer votes wins Must Be The Music – notwithstanding any contingency procedure or technical failure.

In the very unlikely event of a technical failure or other such event beyond Sky or Princess's reasonable control that means that it is not possible to obtain the results of the public vote and/or the public vote results in a tie, the Judges will decide which artist/group is the winner of Must Be The Music 2010. In the very unlikely event of this happening this will be made clear to viewers at the time.

Sky or Princess reserves the right to conduct a vote freeze during the Final. In the event of  vote freeze the following additional procedures will apply.

The phone lines for the first vote will be open for a limited period only and the viewers will be informed on air that voting lines have been frozen. The results of the public vote at the time of lines being frozen will be announced and a specified number of artists/groups (as determined by Sky and Princess) with the least public votes will be eliminated from the competition.

An on-air announcement will be given to inform viewers voting lines have reopened and the public will be voting for the winner of 'Must Be The Music 2010'.

For the avoidance of doubt all votes received by artists/groups going through to the second stage of voting, prior to the lines being froze, are carried forward to the second stage of voting.

c. There is a fault with your telephone landline resulting in a weak telephone signal.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS – PHONE VOTE
Q: Why have I have been charged more than 5p (UK) or 7c (ROI)?
If your call was made in the UK from a BT landline then you will pay 5p per vote (inclusive of VAT) for voting in Must Be The Music.  If your call was made in the Republic of Ireland from an Eircom landline then you will pay 7c per vote (inclusive of VAT).  We state on screen and verbally that "other networks may vary, and calls from mobiles will cost considerably more" - this includes other landlines as well as calls made from mobile phones. Please check with your telephony provider for further details on your tariff.

Q: I was trying to call for (artist/group X) and got (artist/group Y) instead.
All voters are asked to be sure of the correct number and to dial carefully to register their vote.
Sky , Princess Productions and the telephony service provider have implemented a thorough testing schedule to ensure the voting lines are correct.

Q: I have been trying to vote, but keep getting the engaged tone.
The phonelines are very active throughout the UK, Republic of Ireland and Channel Islands when the vote window opens, some callers may experience the engaged tone - especially those in rural/remote areas. We recommend that you call back within a couple of minutes when the traffic through your local exchange would have subsided. Engaged tones are controlled at local telephone exchanges and are something that the Sky, Princess and the telephony service provider cannot control.

Q: I tried voting, but couldn't get through. Why?
Given the high volume of viewers and callers that some TV voting shows generate, it is possible for a very large number of people to pick up the phone simultaneously when the on-screen announcement is made. Sometimes this can cause some callers to get an engaged tone for short periods of time immediately after an on-screen announcement; however, any congestion tends to clear quite quickly.

Q: I voted but was later told that the public vote (or a section of the public vote that includes by vote) would not be counted. Will I be refunded?
All requests for refunds will be investigated and handled on a case by case basis. If you vote during the prescribed voting window as advertised (and unamended) and subsequently your vote is not counted you will be entitled a refund.

Q: When I call I am being told that the network is busy or unavailable.
If you hear messages informing you that the network is busy or unavailable, this means that your own network is unable to process the amount of calls at that moment, or that the local exchange is busy. This is not controlled by Sky or Princess and you should contact your network provider for further information.

Q: Can one artist's/group's  number be constantly engaged and another artist's/group's free?
Like all the big shows, Must Be The Music uses a voting system where at least the first eight digits of the phone numbers are the same for all contestants, with only the last few digits of the phone number changing depending on who you want to vote for.
As the telephone network only uses the first eight digits in a telephone number to route calls to the voting system, it is impossible for calls for different artists/groups to be treated differently.

Once calls reach the voting system they are answered in turn, on a first-come, first-served basis. Each answering point is instructed to accept votes for all artists/groups; there are no dedicated answering points for each artist/group.
This means that your chance of getting through to vote will never depend on the artist(s)/group(s) you wish to vote for.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS – RED BUTTON VOTE

Q: How much will my vote cost?
Calls cost 5p (including VAT) from a BT landline no more than 7c (including VAT) in ROI from an Eircom landline. Q: How will I be charged for the call?
Charges are made via the telephone line and will appear on your telephone bill.

Q: How will I know my vote has been submitted?
Once your set top box has successfully gone on line to submit your vote, you will be presented with the on-screen confirmation message "THANK YOU, YOUR VOTE FOR *ACT NAME* HAS BEEN REGISTERED. PRESS BACKUP TO EXIT."

Q: How will I know if there has been an online problem submitting my vote?
If you do not see the on-screen confirmation message "THANK YOU, YOUR VOTE FOR *ACT NAME* HAS BEEN REGISTERED. PRESS SELECT TO EXIT." then there has been an issue sending your vote and you should be presented with an error message and error code. You may still have been charged for the call.
