27-year-old Singer/Songwriter Emma spends her days filling the streets of Glasgow with her quirky voice, melancholic verse and acoustic guitar – but with music maestros such as Radio 1’s Vic Galloway starting to take note, Glasgow might not be able to keep its favourite busker for long…

Edinburgh-born Emma started playing the guitar, singing and songwriting when she was 16. An interest in poetry and unhappy relationship helped shape her songwriting style; melancholic lyrics about love.  Too shy to take to the stage, Emma’s confidence was boosted after a friend persuaded her to try playing at an Open Mic night.

At the age of 19 Emma decided it was time to up sticks and travel the world. After some soul searching and a stint stuck in India when the tsunami hit, Emma realised that she wanted to concentrate on music full time and moved to Glasgow to follow her dreams.

Working for an independent record label, Emma was given studio time and help making a music video which gave her the courage to take up busking. With busking now her main source of income, Emma can make up to an astonishing £100 in two to three hours and uses the rest of her time to write new material.
