Unflinching and insightful, this one-off documentary charts the lives of two young boys growing up in a North London neighbourhood entrenched in crime and violence.
Over a seven-year period, Mario and Nini used a camera to capture their coming-of-age and the footage makes for uncomfortable viewing. The pair haven’t avoided the many pitfalls that surround them, developing into teenagers with more than just attitude; the mischievous nine year olds who we meet at the beginning of the film are a distant memory.
In fact both of them knew a lad who was murdered, and one has been issued with an ASBO. Focusing their efforts on London’s gang culture, Mario and Nini speak to members and candidly reveal how close they are to this dangerous, destructive world.
