Steve Jones is known as one of the sexiest men on television, but will his chiselled good looks help him survive the Amazon rain forest?
Steve is taking a trip to find adventure, and he's not going alone; keeping him company are his brother Jon and Chris. The three Jones boys will be trying to survive in the jungle and will be highlighting the plight of this amazing place.
As part of the Sky 1 HD Sky Rainforest Rescue the boys will join a lineup of programmes to bring the rainforest back in to the spotlight.
Steve said: “I am really excited to be going out into the Amazon for Sky1 HD, especially as I get to take my brothers Jon and Chris along for the ride. I’m hoping we manage to survive living out there together, but only time will tell…”
Join Steve, Jon and Chris on Sky 1 HD on Monday April 19th at 9pm
In October 2009 Sky joined forces with its customers and WWF to launch Sky Rainforest Rescue – a three year project to help save one billion trees in the state of Acre in northwest Brazil. A donation of just £20 will help save 1000 trees and Sky will match every donation up to the joint target of £4 million.
- Every minute an area the size of 3 football pitches of Amazon rainforest is lost
- Rapid deforestation threatens the region. At current rates, as much as 55% of its rainforests could be gone by 2030, contributing significantly to global warming – which, in turn, poses a threat to the Amazon.
- Scientific research has established a clear link between the health of the Amazon and the integrity of the global environment, especially our climate.
