Chris feels that his best chance of getting abducted by aliens is to meet a number of abductees. I agree with this approach. He needs to get the vibe, look for some patterns and see if he can do whatever it is that they're doing, in case there's something that attracts the aliens. At my suggestion, he meets Ayumi Chu from Surbiton, a married mother of two and someone very different from Ernie Sears, who Chris met in the last episode. Like Ernie though, she's a 'repeater' and has seen at least 10 UFOs, from when she was young.
Ayumi explains that when she was 16 she was invited on board a ship and met 3 aliens, with whom she communicated telepathically. Apparently she can still communicate with them, when she chooses to. In a pleasantly self-deprecating way she freely admits that she thought she might have been going crazy. She says she's taken when asleep and that vivid dreams can be a clue. Ayumi suggests that Chris goes to see a hypnotherapist to see whether he may already have been abducted by aliens, with the memories having been repressed. This is a controversial technique, but I'd previously warned Chris that it was something he might have to consider.
Scientists can't even agree what hypnosis is (focused state of mind, altered state of consciousness, etc.) let alone come to a consensus on whether it can be used to recover lost memories. But Chris wants to give it a shot, so I recommend David Howard, counsellor, psychotherapist, hypnotherapist, Reiki healer and shamanic practitioner. David worked with the National Council for Hypnotherapy and drew up the first ever professional guidelines in the UK for using regression hypnosis on people who believed they'd been abducted by aliens.
Chris duly goes through the 'you are feeling verrrrrrrry sleeeeepy' routine and David asks him to say the first thing that pops into his head - something that's important to him. Yes, I think for a moment - he's done it. He's been abducted! Then I replay the clip and find that I misheard - I thought Chris said "space", but it turns out to have been "Spain". And something about a pub quiz. Sadly, David concludes that Chris hasn't been abducted by aliens.
