Grease Wallasey WinsThree schools faced stiff competition in the School Musical Sing-Off. The stakes were raised as the remaining schools are set to fight tooth and claw to claim the highly prized opportunity to perform in the famous West End. But only one school can win.

After the joy of being shortlisted for the big studio sing-off the schools had to pull out the stops to show the judges why they deserved to be chosen. Would sassy Shoeburyness High School from Essex take the prize? Or would Wallasey from the Wirral triumph with their raw talent? But they had their work cut out as they competed against  the largest school in the country; Great Barr School from Birmingham with 6,200 pupils. All of them had been practising solidly for three weeks.

So with the support of their friends and family in the audience the kids from Shoeburyness kicked things off
with an amazing rendition of Queen's ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’ . Daniel and his puppey took the centre stage and along with fellow pupil Tyrone wowed the judges with their performance.

However there was no time for complacency as Wallasey School were waiting in the wings. Seventeen-year old Claire had cancelled her ski trip for this chance to compete. They began the sing off with a powerful performance of Elton John's 'Circle Of Life'.

Birmingham’s Great Barr held auditions within the school due to an overwhelming response from pupils. They gave a slick performance of ‘The Rhythm of Life’ and once again impressed Duncan, Stacey and Zoe.

The contest progressed with back flips, summersaults and heart rendering pleas from the pupils. Our judges found themselves conflicted  over the different strengths and weaknesses of each school. As the seconds tick by, Jamie steps forward with the result…and Wallasey won the West end gig. The cheers could burst ear-drums.

Now the hard work really begins for the judges and the pupils of Wallasey as they attempt to find the perfect cast for Grease: The School Musical.
