We caught up with Adam Garcia during his rehearsals for his Got To Dance performance, and we asked him everything you want to know.
Q: You've been living in the UK for a while now, does it feel like home yet?
Yes, I've been here since 1994, so almost half my life I've lived in the UK so it absolutely feels like home. I love it.
Q: Do you think tap gets the attention it deserves?
I don't really think it does, but that's OK. It was an archiac form for a while, in the 60s, 70s and even in the 80s it was lost. But Gregory Hines, Sammy Davis Junior; there was a real school that kept it alive, and it's never really gone away.
Everyone who goes to dance school does learn tap, inevitably but it was really Gregory Hines that really brought tap back to the forefront, but it's still very rare that you get to see it. And get to see really really good great stuff, but for the most part, people when they watch it they are really intrigued by it - it's quite odd, it's like just throwing your feet around and making noise but people seem to enjoy it!
Q: For you is it singing, dancing or judging?
Well I try to do all three, but I'm still going to say dancing for me.
Q: How long have you been working on your GTD routine?
Twenty years - thirty years, ever since I was six I've been working towards this. Really about a week with Chris who's my partner- we've been working on tweaking the routine for about a week. (He sure works fast!)
Q: Kimberly last week, Ashley the week before, but what makes you more nervous - sharing the stage with the judges, or with the contestants?
I think it's going to be a little bit of a combination, I'm going to be interested in what Ashley and Kim think - I definatley want to impress them. Obviously we want to do as well as eachother, it's our reputations on the line. And so Ashley of course came up first with Diversity and they were ridiculous, just so good. Then Kim came up and she matched them, so hopefully I won't let the side down.
Well, we've seen him rehearsing and he definitely does not let the team down! Check Adam out tonight on the live semi final - and coming soon to the Got To Dance site - before that here's a little sneap peak for you!
