Style: Creative Pole Dancing

Members: Kate Czepulkowski, 21

Hometown: Bristol

Pole Dance instructor and sports therapist Kate has entered Got To Dance to change the public’s perception of pole dancing. She feels that many people see performers of the genre as, ‘basically just strippers’, so she wants to do a ‘creative routine’, which is far away from this stereotype.

Kate started pole dancing two years ago whilst at university and at first she had a tough time convincing her family it was a good choice. Kate recently achieved her ambition of joining a circus, and now travels all over the world with her act.

Kate made the semi-finals after impressing the judges at callbacks. If she were to win the £250,000 she would use it to fund professional circus training across Europe. Her dream is to perform in Vegas and her second purchase would be a one-way ticket to the Golden City.

Question & Answer

Q: What is your ambition?

A: To introduce pole into dance and circus shows across the world and to change negative images towards pole dancing.

Q: When was the last time you cried?

A: I nearly cried when I found out I’d made the semi finals, because it had been so stressful getting to the call backs! I was away performing so I had to change flights and travel for hours and hours on my own in countries I’ve never been to!

Q: What other hobbies do you have apart from dancing?

A: Knitting – Yes I’m a granny!
