Wolf made his memorable Gladiators debut in 1992 and quickly became the resident bad boy on the classic ITV show.
When Gladiators wrapped, Michael moved to New Zealand with his wife and family, where he set up an indoor play centre, Chipmunk Playground and Cafe, catering to 3 to 12 year-olds.
In 2008, Wolf returned to the Gladiators arena in Sky1's revival of the iconic show, where he took part in a Legends special. Now, Wolf is back for the show's second series, as he becomes manager of 'Team Gladiators'.
An Interview with Wolf
Why do you think Gladiators has been such a success?
It's that rare breed of family show, where the grandparents, the parents and the kids can all sit down and enjoy it. There just aren't many programmes that are like that anymore.
What do you think of the Sky1 revival?
I think it's fantastic; it's completely captured the spirit of the old show and, at the same time, brought it into the 21st century. It's just nice to see Gladiators back on the air, it should never have been taken off in the first place.
Are you glad to be donning your spandex suit once again?
I am indeed. The spandex has become an extension of my body. It's also given me a good reason to train hard and get back into peak physical shape. Everyone's welcomed the Big Bad Wolf back with open arms.
What is your role in season two?
I'm the new manager of 'Team Gladiators'. If anyone criticises or questions the Gladiators, they've got me to deal with, and I promise you, that is not a nice prospect. And maybe I'll end up doing some of the games in certain situations.
Have you spotted any star pupils amongst the Gladiators?
Oblivion is going to be my understudy for the moment and he'll be picking up the mantle from where I left off. But my shoes are pretty big ones to fill.
Describe your managing style
I'm going to rule with an iron fist, pushing the Gladiators to breaking point to make sure that they perform each and every week. But they're a nice bunch of guys and girls and they're willing to put the work in. To be honest, they make my job easy.
Has the Wolf been tamed?
You wouldn't want to find out, believe me.
What words of warning do you have for upcoming Contenders?
Just when you thought it was safe to go out at night, the Wolf-man is back.
