Sky1 HD kicks off a search for the UK and Ireland’s next footballing prodigy in the seven-part series, Football’s Next Star. Open to all 16 to 18-year-old footballers, the series offers young players the opportunity of a lifetime – one season’s contract with reigning Italian champions Inter Milan.
Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool and Spurs star Jamie Redknapp is joined by a team of Inter Milan’s top coaches and scouts for a series of open trials in cities across the UK and Ireland, where thousands of young footballers will try out. The best 40 players will undergo further tests in London before ten young footballers are selected to travel to Italy to spend five weeks at Inter Milan’s state-of-the-art training complex, Interello.
In Milan, the final ten will work with some of Inter’s biggest stars including Patrick Vieira, Javier Zanetti, Samuel Eto’o and Marco Materazzi. And, living in a luxury villa, the lads will receive a unique insight into Italian football and culture. Jamie Redknapp will mentor the boys throughout their journey and Milan’s team of coaches will be joined by head coach, Jose Mourinho, in making the ultimate decision and selecting Football’s Next Star.
