Fast becoming a national treasure, Dizzee Rascal has Brit, NME and Mercury Music Awards to his name, plus several number one singles.

Dizzee Rascal is a grime solo artist who has taken the music industry by storm since his debut album Boy in da Corner won the Mercury Award for Best Newcomer in 2003. Collaborating with artists as diverse as Arctic Monkeys, Fatboy Slim and Florence And The Machine, Dizzee has number one hits with Dance wiv Me, Bonkers, Holiday, Dirtee Disco and earned his fifth consecutive UK hit for Shout for England with James Corden.

Proclaimed as one of the best rappers in the world by the prolific artist and producer Wyclef Jean, Dizzee brings to the judging panel his unique ability to appeal to a widespread audience with his fans ranging from street kids to conservative broadsheet readers, including Prince Harry. Dizzee says of his motives for judging on Must Be The Music: “I know how hard it is to break into the music industry … [we] really do have some of the best musicians in the world right under our noses, who deserve a break. I’m here to give you that break.”

With a head for the music industry business, Dizzee founded Dirtee Stank Recordings and used the label in 2008 to release the hip hop, pop and dance hybrid number one single Dance Wiv Me featuring Calvin Harris and Chrome.

Dizzee was encouraged by his school teacher to pursue his musical talent and started MCing at raves and on pirate radio at the age of 15. He made a name for himself on the underground music scene and released debut single I Luv U from his Mercury Award winning album Boy in da Corner. His following albums, Showtime, Maths + English and Tongue N' Cheek, earned him an NME award for Innovation in 2004 and a BRIT award for Best British Male in 2010. Dizzee’s music has touched the corners of the globe with gigs in New York, LA, New Zealand and Australia, leading to a BET award for Best International Act in 2010.
