Got to dance davina

Are you pleased with the success of Got To Dance?

Got To Dance has been such a wonderful experience. The judges...Ashley, Kimberly and Adam…wow, seriously, is that not the most beautiful panel in TV history?! They're all gorgeous! It's a real family. And the contestants are just sensational. We've unearthed some major contenders. It's without a doubt been the year of the kids, but they've really brought something special.

I think that the show has connected with people because of the wealth of styles and ages that it represents. It's been great to see everything from ballet to street, solo performers to groups.

I'm in awe of all of the performers and their passion for dance. We all love to dance, but our contenders live for it. I think it's that passion that's made the show what it is and really grabbed the public's attention.

Would you love to train to perform with Kimberly?

What do you mean? I taught her everything she knows!  Did you not see my promo?! Ha, no seriously, Kimberly can really move. Have you seen what she can do with her legs! She’s a professional, no doubt about it.

You must be exhausted from doing Got To Dance and Celebrity BB (loving your work), how on earth do you stay looking so fresh?
I couldn't possibly reveal my secrets. Ha! No, seriously, I have a great team around me and that really helps.  But I do try to take care of myself.

This year has been full on though. CBB, Got To Dance and I’m also in training for Sports Relief and it's so tough! I'm doing nearly three hours of training a night. You could crack nuts with my thighs right now.

I've always been someone who looks after themselves, but I have to say this has been tough. I've the utmost respect for Chris Hoy and the members of team Great Britain. This is quite simply one of the most rigorous workouts you can do.  Well, alongside Davina Workout, naturally.

Do you have to watch what you eat when you’re shooting all the time?Got To Dance: Davina

I do regular exercise, so I can be bad when I feel like it. It's just a question of mixing healthy eating with regular exercise. I like chocolate as much as the next person  and my personal vice is Percy Pigs. I love them.

How much sleep do you need a night?

As much as my kids will permit me.

You’ve achieved so much, what are your ambitions now?

My ambitions have always been more personal goals than related to my work. To be married. To have a family. I’m very content. I've been blessed to work in television for a couple of decades and it's great to still do work that excites and motivates me. It will be hard to say goodbye to Big Brother, but at the same time I'm thrilled with how audiences have connected to Got To Dance. And there are some other exciting new projects I'm working on right now.

How did you get over the fear factor of slipping into a leotard for your fabulous Flashdance routine?

Davina on What to Expect from the Semi FinalsI was more worried about the choreography. I had a great choreographer who trained me for a day. But I literally spent three days practicing the routine in my kitchen. I'm sure I’ve worn worse things than the red leotard over the years, trust me!

What are your top five performances from the show so far? And why?

It's hard to single people out. There's been funny, emotional and just raw talent. The standard has been so high.

Martin Sierra stands out for me - he's just so entertaining; born to perform. I'd love to see him in the Big Brother house. Can you imagine? Status and Unity Youth were really powerful performers, I loved their energy and they were 'tight'. You see, I'm learning from the judges! Eclipse had that old-school charm and so much spirit. They just made you smile and left you wanting more.

If you could bring back any eliminated contestant, who would it be?

It's so hard to pick one, but if I had to choose it would be Status. I loved their routine; it had so much energy. The atmosphere in the studio was electric. Their look - an Alice In Wonderland theme - was sensational. It was really well thought out. They just got it right on the night. All three judges gave them their stamp of approval too, but in the end it was down to the public to vote.

Who’s your pick to win?

I hate to sit on the fence, but the finalists all have something to give. Matthew's first performance was just so captivating; Akai, Emily, Jukebox Juniors and The Box are all revelations, talented beyond their years; and MJ Latin just bring that sparkle.

It's too close to call. I'm so glad it's the public's decision and not mine.
