Ashley Banjo's Sky Songs playlist is fittingly bookended by two Michael Jackson tracks. Banjo told metrolyrics.com that Jackson had been "an idol for all of us. He was probably the greatest dancer in the world and a big influence on what we do. It wasn't just his singing or dancing, it was the whole spectacle. He was an amazing showman. His choreography was something else."
Banjo also told the BBC that Diversity came very close to playing gigs with Jackson, saying "we were so close to supporting him in concert - it was a matter of days. It was a massive blow for us, number one that we didn't do the tour and it was a massive blow for us that he died." Diversity performed at a tribute gig for Jackson, and have a routine based around his music that is one of their signature crowd-pleasers.
Banjo's playlist also includes tracks from another Jackson disciple – Justin Timberlake – as well as some classic rap from New York legends Run DMC and an upbeat banger from Beyonce (featuring Jay-Z).
