At just 10 years old Akai was one of the youngest dancers to audition for Got To Dance, but after seeing him move there was no doubt he was going to do well! Quite how well? He only went and won the whole thing!
Celebrity
Before Akai was crowned Got To Dance Champion 2010 has was already beating people twice his age in competitions and is getting used to the celebrity lifestyle with lovesick girls already asking for his autograph and pictures.
In year 6 at primary school in Kent, Akai lives with with his family in Orpington. His mum dad and sisters Ashanti, 12 and Sahara, 2. He also has 3 half brothers, Rico, 20, Levi, 19 and Reece 13 and 2 half sisters, Charlene, 22, and Jade, 16.
Acrobatic
He spends 3 and a half hours a week rehearsing with his dance school and another 3 hours practising at home in his living room - or on his trampoline! Akai thinks practising on his trampoline helps keep his moves more acrobatic.
Akai thinks his routines stand out because of the comedy elemnts he puts in to make the audience smile. He is always surprising people as they do not expect a 10 year old to be able to do all the flips, locking and popping that he puts in to his routine.
Inspired
He started dances classes with his sister just a year ago, but has been dancing in his living room since he was just 6 after watching You Got Served. He was so inspired he was determined that one day he'd be able to dance like the actors in the film. Imitating the routines he had seen lead him to start inventing his own moves.
Whenever he thinks about what the judges said to him at the auditions he can't believe they were talking about him - all three were amazed by Akai's moves. Ashley Banjo was almost lost for words after seeing Akai's routine.
Born to Dance
Ashley told Akai he was "born to dance."
As Got To Dance 2010 winner Akai thinks £100,000 is a bit much for him so he'll give it to his mum and dad to look after, although he does want a mobile phone!
